SCS SB 525 -- EMBALMERS AND FUNERAL DIRECTORS

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass" by the Special Committee on
Professional Registration and Licensing by a vote of 11 to 0.

This substitute adds crematory to the definition of "funeral
establishment" and updates the laws regarding death certificates.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds in FY 2008, FY 2009, and
FY 2010.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that the bill updates the statutes to
include crematories which are being used more frequently.

Testifying for the bill was Senator Scott.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
